Default Printing on sail fabric

I remember a thread at the dear departed PMB that gave information about printing on Pellon® (the fabric that is used for the sails on Playmo sailboats.)
Someone printed custom sails and they were beautiful.
Now I want to print on Pellon® fabric and I'm hoping that someone here has the information that I need.

Was it an inkjet printer?
Do I have to do something special to the printer before I try to print on the fabric?
Can the printing be made waterproof?

I'm eager to hear from anyone who might have answers to these questions!

You can print on Pellon®? No seriously, I also remember something about it but that is it. Sorry MamaDragon.

I bought some Pellon® tonight and I'm going to experiment with it to see how well it feeds through my printer.
I'll let you know what happens.

I printed some custom sails on special backed fabric for iron-on application using my normal printer no problems, so hopefully it should be very straigtforward Rona. I used actual Playmo sails to make the template.

I'm not sure the fabric was the same as Pellon - as it wasn't as stiff as Playmobil material - and I've actually left the backing on to give it rigidity. (I only needed printed on one side for my purposes.) Otherwise I would have followed the advice on Playmoboard to print two and stick them back to back. If Pellon is the actual Playmo material, it's a great find and I'll look out for it!

I used a leather hole punch (one with a ring of different sized puncture bits) to make the holes. I've also made custom tents which required a whole lot of hole punching, but opted just to use paper because of cost.

Warning...this is a cheap shot at our favorite Dragon

If it is anything like the General, it may take a while before we know what happened.

I still love you even if I tease you a little

It's good to be loved!

I printed on the fabric and had mixed success. One sheet of the fabric went through the printer just fine. The next one got all wrapped around the spools that guide the paper and made a big mess. After I got that cut out of the printer I tried a heavier weight of the Pellon fabric and it worked great.
I bought a new printer, though, so as soon as I get it set up I'm going to try printing on the Pellon using the manual sheet feeder.

I'll let you know what happens.

That's unfortunate Rona if your second attempt scuppered your printer
